Our Roots in Service
Maryvale was founded in 1856 by the Daughters of Charity, whose longstanding commitment to service and care for vulnerable children helped shape the organization’s early work. That legacy continues today through Maryvale’s focus on education, family support, and pathways to stability for children and families.

The Daughters of Charity are known globally for their work in education, health care, and social services. Their emphasis on meeting community needs with compassion and dignity continues to influence Maryvale’s approach to supporting children and families across Los Angeles County.
