What We Do
Maryvale is Los Angeles County’s oldest children’s charity, serving youth and families for over 170 years. Founded in 1856, Maryvale has remained steadfast in its commitment to compassion, dignity, and opportunity for those facing adversity.
Today, Maryvale delivers programs that support healing, stability, and long-term well-being. Our work focuses on strengthening families and helping children build healthy foundations for the future through education, behavioral health, and supportive services.
Through Early Childhood Education, Maryvale nurtures young learners during critical developmental years, creating safe, enriching environments where children can grow and succeed. Through Community-Based Mental Health and Substance Use Services, we provide coordinated care for children, teens, and families, addressing emotional and behavioral needs with respect and responsiveness. Through housing and supportive services for women and children, we help families move toward stability and independence.
Maryvale serves individuals and families of all backgrounds, providing access to supportive services that nurture growth, resilience, and hope.
“With loving and compassionate hearts, we seek to heal, educate, and empower those who need us most, lifting up one individual, one family, one community at a time.”

Rooted in Community
Maryvale operates across Rosemead, Duarte, and South El Monte, partnering with schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations to expand access to care throughout Los Angeles County. As community needs continue to evolve, Maryvale remains committed to adapting and growing in ways that create meaningful, long-term change.

Why Support Matters
Donor and community support make Maryvale’s work possible. Many of the families we serve face significant financial barriers, making philanthropic investment essential to sustaining and expanding access to care. Every gift helps children and families receive the support they need to heal, grow, and move forward.
