Under the direct supervision of the ECE Associate or Fully Qualified Teacher and ECE Administrator, Teacher’s Aides (TAs) are responsible for providing support to create a warm, caring, calm, orderly, safe, and healthy early learning environment in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Early Education program. TAs are assigned to work under the direct supervision of a Teacher in a classroom with children from birth through 12 years. TAs are required to provide support to the classroom teacher, completing tasks as assigned so that children receive high-quality care, supervision, and educational experiences.

Essential Duties
Actively participate in required training to develop knowledge of child development, age-appropriate activities, and health and safety practices.
Contribute ideas for engaging activities that promote a safe, positive early learning environment and support children’s emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development.
Support the classroom teacher by completing daily classroom tasks, including but not limited to preparing activities, cleaning up after activities, assisting with diapering and bathroom routines, supervising nap time, reading and singing with children, and leading large-group activities in the classroom and on the playground.
Provide daily virtual learning opportunities to support the continued developmental progress of enrolled children using methods such as email, online learning platforms, and video. Maryvale may post educational content on agency-managed social media platforms and the agency website. Maryvale retains ownership of all educational content created for instructional or promotional purposes, which may remain in use after employment ends.
Ensure children in assigned care are visually supervised at all times in accordance with Maryvale policies, procedures, and Title 22 regulations.
Implement health and safety standards and procedures, including daily sanitation, diapering, record keeping and daily reports, safe sleep practices, safety checklists, adherence to allergy lists, and food program documentation at point of service.
Communicate with families in accordance with Maryvale’s communication policy through face-to-face interactions, email, video conferencing, and telephone to monitor, inform, and support families.
Complete 21 hours of professional development annually and upload completed trainings/coursework to the Workforce Registry in a timely manner.
Attend and actively participate in in-service trainings, staff meetings, and discussion groups.
Maintain accurate and timely records for children, including daily reports, anecdotal notes, and behavior logs, and contribute to DRDP completion with guidance from the classroom teacher.
Communicate promptly with supervisors and/or the Center Director regarding questions, concerns, or issues.
Immediately report any concerns related to program operations or child safety to the appropriate EEC Administrator and/or Vice President of Early Childhood Education. Teacher Aides are mandated reporters.
Demonstrate openness to daily supervision, mentorship, and training provided by assigned classroom teachers.
Work collaboratively with fellow associates to promote teamwork and a cohesive work environment.
Exhibit compassionate service by demonstrating patience, empathy, and professionalism at all times.
Maintain confidentiality, including refraining from sharing personal information about children with anyone other than their parent or guardian.
Use sound judgment and common sense in accordance with Maryvale policies and procedures. Seek guidance from teaching or administrative staff when uncertain.
Respond appropriately to emergency situations and remain on campus until all children have been safely released, unless authorized to leave by the Center Director or Vice President of ECE.
Teacher Aides assigned to the School Age Program may be required to transport children to and from school and off-site field trips.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Current Immunizations
Active fingerprint clearance
Minimum of 6 Child Development units (3 completed and 3 currently enrolled accepted)
Fully Qualified Teacher: Completion of 12 ECE/CD semester units, including core coursework in Child Development; Child, Family, and Community; Curriculum; and Infant/Toddler studies, plus a minimum of six (6) months of experience.
Associate Teacher: Possession of a valid California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) Associate Teacher Permit or higher, and eligibility to apply for an Associate Teacher position when available.
