Cultivating a love of learning while building a foundation for academic success
Maryvale’s Rosemead Early Education Center was established in 1968. The Center is licensed by Community Care Licensing, a state agency through the Department of Social Services, to care for children six weeks through five years of age.
Maryvale began serving the early childhood education needs of the San Gabriel Valley in 1999 when it purchased "The Land of Awes" preschool. In 2011, the Duarte Early Education Center was opened in a newly christened building that was also home to Maryvale's Family Resource Center. To best meet the needs of families in the area, the Duarte campus also offers a valued kid's club and Before and After School Program for school-aged children.
Christina Moore holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Education. She is credentialed by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing to Supervise Multiple Child Development Centers and holds a Program Director Permit.
Ms. Moore also brings a strong yet flexible leadership style and an unwavering commitment to healthy child development to her role at the Early Education Centers. Her guidance and expertise in all aspects of the educational experience ensures that the Early Education Centers strive for and achieve excellence in all areas of performance.
While it might not seem that building with blocks and molding with play clay have any connection to later life success, two major studies, the HighScope Perry Preschool Study and the Abecedarian Study, show an actual connection. Both studies looked at children in high quality preschool programs compared to those who were not in preschool. Not only did the studies follow the kids during and after preschool, but also checked in with those, now adult, participants decades later.
The Perry Preschool Study interviewed the original preschoolers over time, through age 40. The adults who were in the preschool group were more likely to have a job, had higher paying jobs. A similar project, the Abecedarian Study, found that, as adults, participants who had gone to preschool were more likely to complete a higher degree of education and go to college than those who had not gone to preschool.
