Golfing for a Purpose

Our 7th Annual Restoring Hope Golf Tournament is next month, March 23, at the San Gabriel Country Club. It is our largest fundraiser, supporting three critical programs that benefit foster youth, preschool-aged children and at-risk families, respectively.

“The Restoring Hope Golf Tournament has gained a reputation as a must-play fundraiser,” says Steve Gunther, Maryvale’s President and CEO. “Through our Residential, Early Education and Community-Based programs, Maryvale offers individuals and families hope, and the opportunity to have successful futures. Our golfers and sponsors partner with us in this important work.”

We serve nearly 850 people annually, and all benefit from the tournament’s success – like Kathy, a teenager who experienced trauma, ran away, missed school and abused substances. Living at Maryvale for 3.5 years in its Residential therapy program for girls and young woman ages 6-21, she had access to, and participated in, behavioral therapy, educational support and wellness activities. As a result, Kathy gained a positive outlook on life and was recently placed in a foster home where she is doing well.

Raising money isn’t the only reason why the tournament is embraced by the community. It’s also about San Gabriel Valley and Los Angeles County residents wanting to send a powerful message to children and families at Maryvale that people care about, and support them.

Riding on the momentum of last year’s success, we are returning to the exclusive San Gabriel Country Club, the oldest 18 hole golf course located in its original site in the Los Angeles area. Known for its natural beauty and prestige, tournament participants are guaranteed to have a VIP golfing experience and an exciting day – all for a great cause. The day’s activities include tournament games, lunch, silent & live auction, awards and Maryvale honoring its long- time supporter, Patrick Pascal, President and CEO of Chelsea Management Company.
