WELLNESS COORDINATOR

Under the direct supervision of the Wellness Manager, the Wellness Coordinator is responsible for the development, organization, coordination, evaluation and supervision of the wellness activities, including in-kind giving. Activities and events are to be trauma informed and culturally relevant and sensitive and highly inclusive to all clients regardless of beliefs. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB EXPECTATIONS:

  • Demonstrate a passion and commitment for the Mission and Vincentian Core Values of Maryvale and the Daughters of Charity.
  • Follow the Trauma Informed Care philosophy when supporting and addressing the needs of the children and families Maryvale serves.
  • Follow Universal Precautions when exposed to blood and body fluids.
  • Follow Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) regulations pertaining to safety and the use of equipment/machinery.
  • Attends essential training courses (CPR, Proact, etc.).

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • In coordination with Wellness Manager, Wellness Coordinator will develop, schedule and coordinate wellness activities, and events. Ensure high level of attendance, inclusion and appropriateness of events/activities based on client’s needs. Develop, lead and actively participate in activities and events - internally and externally.
  • Work with Development department to identify prospective donors from the volunteer and in-kind supporters.
  • Maintain active and current lists of community resources and develop relationships with community resources to ensure that each activity/event is enriched, culturally relevant and sensitive and inclusive of all clients.
  • Coordinate, work effectively, develop, and maintain strong professional relationships with in-kind donors, Maryvale Guild and supporters.
  • Manage and keep track of in-kind donations and supporters in the development electronic database. Provide monthly in-kind donations report to the Finance department.
  • Coordinate activities with GRASS Manager.
  • Oversee pool/swimming programming to meet clients’ needs.
  • Oversee the programming of the Guild’s gym/activity room/equipment/library/computer lab and art studio.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of scheduled activities in meeting clients’ needs and regulate activities as necessary.
  • Evaluate equipment and supply needs and ensure that each activity/event has what is needed for a successful experience. Plan accordingly, ahead of time and advocate for needs.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records and reports pertaining to the planned activities.
  • Provide supervision, protection and care of the children individually and in groups at all times.
  • Ensure clients have clothing, birthday and holiday gifts.
  • Other duties as assigned.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or an AA degree or its equivalent and two years’ experience in residential setting or four years’ experience in residential setting caring for at-risk children or youth.
  • Ability to manage effectively, coordinate multiple activities at once.
    Ability to work well with children, staff, and community members and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Valid California Driver’s license.
  • Completion of or enrollment in related education or training programs.
  • Six months’ experience in organizing and providing planned activities.
  • Must possess basic knowledge of Excel, Publisher, Basic Graphic software.
  • Recreation background. Knowledge of sports and arts/crafts programs.
  • Event planning experience.

Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance - Maryvale offers a choice of two medical plans and two dental plans for full-time Associates. In addition, we offer vision insurance through VSP. Holiday Pay - Maryvale recognizes 10 full-day paid holidays,  and 1 Holiday of Choice each calendar year (Regular part-time employees receive pro-rated time).

Vacation - Maryvale recognizes the value of rest and relaxation and encourages Associates to take time off with their families. Regular full-time Associates accrue paid vacation leave according to the following schedule:

  • 1 to 3 years of service - 10 working days per year
  • 4 to 7 years of service - 15 working days per year
  • 8 years or more of service - 20 working days per year

Sick Time - Associates accrue sick time at 1 hour for each 28.9 hours of work.

Life Insurance - Maryvale pays for a basic Life & Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance Policy that pays beneficiaries a flat $15,000 death benefit.

401(k) Pension Plan - Associates are eligible to enroll in the 401(k) Retirement Plan on the first day of the month after their hire date.

  • Match of Employee Contributions: After completing one year of service, Maryvale will match 100% of an Associate’s salary deferral up to a maximum of the first 3% (1%-3%). In addition, Maryvale will match 66% of an Associate’s salary deferral up to a maximum of the next 3% (3%-6%).
  • Non-Elective Contribution: After an Associate completes one full year of service, Maryvale on the Associate’s behalf, will begin making a fixed non-elective contribution equal to 3% of the Associate’s income. This contribution is separate from the matching contribution and vests over a 5 year period.

Long Term Disability Insurance - Maryvale offers Long Term Disability Insurance to all benefits-eligible Associates at no cost to the Associate. Maryvale pays the full premium for these benefits which provide salary protection in the event an Associate becomes disabled for an extended period of time.

Credit Union - Maryvale Associates are given the opportunity to become members of the Foothill Credit Union.

Employee Assistance Program - The EAP Program is a confidential service that provides counseling, financial planning and legal advice free of charge to all Maryvale Associates and their families.
